Edo-era illustrated records show the disasters that have plagued Japan throughout its history

The Japanese news blog RocketNews24 reports the release by the National Archives of Japan of various “written records and woodblock prints detailing various earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, fires, floods, and contagious diseases that plagued Japan during the Edo Period, which lasted from 1603 to 1868.” Records can be surfed on the National Archives’ website Tenka Taihen. The interface is, however, exclusively in Japanese.
